Once a year, the National Institute of Physics (NIP) opens its doors to the public as they hold the annual week-long institute open house and laboratory tour. Visitors get to experience first-hand what research thrusts the institute has to offer.

Being the forerunner of Physics research in the Philippines, the NIP is composed of 6 rersearch laboratories and groups: Instrumentation Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Photonics, Theoratical Physics, Plasma Physics, and Structure and Dynamics.

Held last 23-28 February, this year’s open house was visited by over 200 students and teachers from several schools such as the University of the Phiippines – Manila, De La Salle University, University of Sto. Tomas, Ateneo de Manila High School, St. Scholastica’s Academy, and Philippine Science High School, to name a few.

The NIP Open House is part of Physics Month, an annual celebration in the institute promoting Physics to the public as well as to instill camarderie amongst its constituents.
